Sydney Opera House

Sydney, Australia

Some of the first things that come into your head when asked, “What is there to see in Australia?” are kangaroos, boomerangs, koala bears, and that neat looking building in the water. Well, that “neat looking building is one of the most iconic buildings in the world, the Sydney Opera House. The Sydney Opera house is Australia’s number one tourist destination and its busiest performing arts center, welcoming more than 10.9 million visitors a year on site and hosting more than 1,800 performances attended by more than 1.4 million people. It is an architectural masterpiece and vibrant performance space. It’s a place where the past shapes the future, where conventions are challenged and cultures are celebrated. And in 2023, Australia celebrated the 50th Anniversary of this beautiful venue.

Don’t let the name fool you… a lot more goes on there than just operatic performances. Plays and musicals, dance recitals, lectures, stand-up comedy, modern contemporary music of all genres, and so much more take center stage at the Opera House.

When planning your trip down under, give yourself a day, and maybe an evening to tour the Opera House and maybe take in a performance to get the full experience of this magnificent structure.
